PocketDataSheet™, PocketDataLog™ and PocketDataPRO™ software turns a standard PocketPC into a handheld data recorder and digitizer. Users pre-specify the names, units and order of the instruments to be read, as well as "out-of-bounds" values and help files. Each program provides multiple screens to allow for password entry, time stamp and individual data input. Data entry is checked for abnormal values, and if appropriate, a caution or warning is displayed. When the PocketPC is returned to its charging cradle, the recorded data is automatically uploaded to the specified Microsoft Access® database in the desktop PC. The PocketDataPRO™ package includes Bar Code scanning capabilities. The software/hardware package(s) are designed to replace the unruly job of hand logging data. Currently, many process and utility plants still require that operators complete data sheets several times per shift, logging in operating data from hundreds of instruments. This job is time consuming, often valueless, and at times even dangerous. In many process, utility and other product manufacturing environments, important data is regularly retrieved and written, but often ignored afterwards. In the facilities that bother to re-enter the data into a desktop computer, the job is time and dollar consuming. Additionally, the computer files will inevitably have "keyboarding" errors, and are usually not screened for irregular or dangerous values. To obtain the field data, operators usually carry their data sheets on clipboards while navigating ladders, narrow and/or elevated platforms, and other areas where it is highly desirable to have both hands available to hold onto support rails. PocketDataSheet™, PocketDataLog™ and PocketDataPRO™ software/hardware packages will improve the efficiency, effectiveness and safety of your data collection efforts. PocketDataSheetTM, PocketDataLogTM and PocketDataPROTM software runs on Compaq's iPAQ® (H3600, H3700, H3800 and H3900 series) and other commercially available PocketPC's. |
