Process and Mechanical Technologies, Inc. (PMT) announces the release of their newest software for the PocketPC's.

Process and Mechanical Technologies, Inc. (PMT) is pleased to announce the full commercial release (4.0) of their PocketDataPRO software for the PocketPC series of handheld computers.

The PocketDataPRO™ software package is basically the PocketDataLog™ software PLUS Bar Code reading capabilities.  The combined software/hardware package (software, PocketPC and Socket's In-Hand CF card scanner) is designed to replace the unruly job of hand logging data.  Currently, many process, utility and other operating plants still require that operators complete data sheets several times per shift, logging in readings from as many as 100+ instruments.  This job is time consuming, often valueless, and at times even dangerous.

Important data is regularly retrieved and written, but often ignored afterwards.  In the facilities that bother to re-enter the data into a computer, the job is time and dollar consuming.  Additionally, the computer files will inevitably have "keyboarding" errors, and are usually not screened for irregular or dangerous values.  To obtain the field data, operators usually carry the data sheets on clipboards while navigating ladders, narrow and/or elevated platforms, and other areas where it is highly desirable to have both hands available to hold onto support rails.

The PocketDataPRO™ re-defines the operation into an efficient, effective and safe data acquisition method.  It provides a handheld PocketPC (easily fitting into an operators shirt, jacket or pants pocket) and software that will guide the operator to each instrument, accept data on the touch screen, check the data for "out-of-bounds" values (warning the operator if necessary), and then automatically transfer the data to a desktop PC when the operator returns to the control room.

The basic package retails for $2,995 and includes a Compaq iPAQ PocketPC, the Socket In-Hand scanner PocketDataPRO™ software, and 8 hours of phone support from PMT.  Options include additional technical support, multiple licenses, additional software, etc.

The OS for the software is Microsoft's newest Windows CE 3.0.
